Welcome to the first LinkRisk Dance!

We have been working hard over the last few weeks to get ready for the first major LinkRisk algorithm update. We have been looking carefully at the way our scoring has been performing and taking as many opportunities as we could to learn from sites that either didn’t get caught by the algorithm or were suspected when they were actually ok.

Each of these cases has helped us to tweak our algorithm to make it better and more accurate, we are pretty happy with the results and even happier with the update.

We intend to issue an algorithm update around every 4 weeks from now on, many of them will be minor tweaks but each will help add further improvements to the way we detect good and bad links.

The way we will be presenting these updates to you is as the monthly LinkRisk dance!

As the algorithm update goes live you will see us post with some indications about what areas and issues have been addressed by the update and each update will have an official name. Kinda like the way Google does its major algorithm updates but with us the update will help you rather than harm you 🙂

So for this initial major update we have named it the LinkRisk DixonJones update and its major features include: –

1.0 DixonJones Update

  • Increased sensitivity towards known problematic site structures like directories and article farms
  • Greater granularity on the scoring to allow more sites to be flagged as low risk or good
  • Better understanding of the context of links within the page rather than in the context of the domain
  • The ability to upload and verify disavow files so you are only working on the links that are left

What happens with my profile?

Any profile uploaded from today will be scored with our latest algorithm, over the next few days we will be rescoring and scanning all active profiles in our system, when your profile has been rescored, we will send you an email with your old score compared to your new score, we’ve a LOT of profiles in our system so it’s going to take a few days.

When is the next LinkRisk Dance?

We intend to issue a new dance in about 4 weeks time, each dance will get a name and we would love it if you sent in a video of your team doing the dance. The winning entry will get a months free plus subscription and we will feature your video on the update post.

As we don’t have any entries for this first update, ladies and gentlemen may I present Dixon Jones of MajesticSEO doing the LinkRisk Dance!
